  14.  Introduction
  15.  ------------

  17.  Voodoo-X is MUI-based front-end for Dirk Stoecker's powerful unarchiving
  18.  system - xadmaster.library (Shareware). Unlike other dearchiver front-ends,
  19.  Voodoo-X doesn't depend on the archiver commands (such as LZX, LHA, DMS,
  20.  etc.) being in the C: drawer nor does it require complicated command line
  21.  setups for these commands. This is because XAD does all the hard work. :-)

  23.  Voodoo-X allows you to quickly browse an archive's contents and view
  24.  individual files (with multiview) like pictures and documents just by
  25.  double clicking your mouse. This method of browsing archives proves to
  26.  be highly effective since you don't need to get your hands dirty by
  27.  extracting files to temporary locations such as Ram:. Voodoo-X does all
  28.  that for you.

  30.  With the help of XAD, Voodoo-X supports more archiver formats than you
  31.  can wave a stick at, Amiga and non-Amiga, these include:
  32.  
  33.  LZX, LHA, ZIP, WinZip-MS EXE, DMS, DMS-SFX, Tar, GZip, RAR, SuperDuper,
  34.  CrunchDisk, xDisk, PackDev, Zoom, Shrink and many many more.

  36.  xadmaster.library is a modular system and will support even more archivers
  37.  in the future.

  39.  Note: Voodoo-X doesn't actually write disk-based archives (like DMS, xMash,
  40.        etc.) back to disk, but instead examines them to see if they are
  41.        OFS or FFS formatted, if they are, it then allows you to browse
  42.        through the contents of them and retrieve individual files.

  44.        Voodoo-X can also retrieve files from inside standard FFS formatted
  45.        (i.e AmigaDOS) ADF files, OFS, FFS, DirCache, International,
  46.        double-density and high-density disks formats are all supported.

  52.  - Entries are not longer viewed as a linear list of files, but instead
  53.    as a proper directory structure. Although the user can still view file
  54.    as a linear list if he/she wants to, by using the new settings window.

  56.    that LHA archive inside that DMS archive which is inside that ADF file
  57.    that just happens to be inside that big LZX archive (well, you get the
  58.    idea anyway :-), with only a few clicks of the mouse.

  60.  - Protection bits are now showen in the main lister.
  61.  - Quick access to multiple destinations (via a new popup list).

  72.  - Browse many archives very quickly. Voodoo-X contains an archive history
  73.    list, much like the URL history list of a web browser, which allows you
  74.    to switch between archives VERY QUICKLY with only three clicks of the
  75.    mouse button.

  77.  - Browse archives inside archives. Note: This might require lots of memory
  78.    depending on how deep the archives are, since embedded archives need
  79.    to be temporarily extracted to T:.

  81.  - Quickly view pictures, documents or similar files that are inside archives
  82.    simply by double clicking on an entry. Doing so will make Voodoo-X extract
  83.    the selected file then launch multiview to view it.

  85.  - Drag one or more archive icons from Workbench into the main window to
  86.    browse their contents.

  88.  - Virus checking. If you have Georg Hörmann's xvs.library system installed
  89.    then you can check archives for file viruses.

  91.  - Lots of archiver formats are support (common ones and obscure ones).

  93.  - Retrieve files from within DMS archives (and other disk based archive
  94.    formats too).

  96.  - Fast decompression, thanks to xadmaster.library. Note: This really
  97.    depends on the client being used. Some clients are coded in C and might
  98.    noticeably slower than the original archive program on older CPUs.

  100.  - Very easy-to-use user interface, thanks to MUI.

  102.  - Quickly copy, move or delete archives using pull down menus.
